Railway Museum - Arrival in Gävle Summer 2024

The Railway Museum reopens in the summer of 2024 after extensive renovation. At the Railway Museum, you will encounter a state-of-the-art museum with brand new exhibitions.

Information

You will experience not only a newly renovated museum with its own playroom for the little ones. In the outdoor area, there is a playground and a mini train track. At the railway crossing keeper's cottage in Hosäter, we play games from the past, and in Hennan's station building, we show what a waiting room could look like and how it used to function.

During the summer, historic rail buses run from the museum to the vehicle depot Tåghallen. In Tåghallen, you can stroll among old royal carriages and other impressive vehicles. A must-visit for those who can't get enough of trains, locomotives, and carriages. The Railway Museum's railway collection is of international top quality and consists of over 300 vehicles from the mid-19th century to the present day. In the collection, you can find, among other things, Prins August, which is the oldest locomotive in the world that can still be operated. The Railway Museum organizes train trips on its own and in collaboration with others.
